Dr. Lilit Kirakosyan - Medical Staff

Dr. Lilit Kirakosyan, born in Yerevan, Armenia, completed her medical degree at Yerevan State Medical University of Armenia and her residency in Ophthalmology at National Institute of Health and 8th Eye Clinic Hospital, in 2003.

Following completion of her residency, Dr. Kirakosyan, became a staff ophthalmologist/consultant at GMEIPO (Garo Meghrigian Eye Institute for Preventive Ophthalmology), American University of Armenia, and also participated in benevolent work with mass-screenings in Dilijan, Ghukasyan and Goris, and in Yerevan city kindergartens.

Very interested in Preventative Eye Care, Dr. Kirakosyan lectured to eye care professionals during a course on Public Health Ophthalmology at American University of Armenia in 2005 and co-authored several articles including:

  1. "Basics of Ophthalmology Brochure for family physicians, ophthalmic and general nurses". Yerevan, Armenia, 2005.
  2. "Two-Day Training Course in Ophthalmology for the Village Ambulatory Nurses" (article). XXVII Annual ASPHER, Yerevan Armenia
  3. "The Overview of the Results of the Planning Workshop leading to a National Strategic Plan on Prevention of Blindness (NSP) in Armenia". Report to the Ministry of Health of Republic of Armenia, American University of Armenia, Center for Health Services Research and Development, July 2005.

She also participated in the Planning Workshop leading to a National Strategic Plan on Prevention of Blindness in Armenia in Yerevan, 2005.

In October, 2005, Dr. Kirakosyan traveled to the United States to give a PowerPoint presentation "Eye Care Services in Armenia" at the Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois and at the Rotary Club in Westerville, Ohio.

Doctor Kirakosyan, joined the Optomed Canada Team as staff ophthalmologist in 2005 and brings her valuable expertise and skills to our clinic.

When away from work, she spends cherished time with her husband and sons, and enjoys music, painting and sports.
